Ammunition depot near Kyiv’s western outskirts struck by Russia

From late on 28 August into the early hours of 29 August, Russia used drones to strike an ammunition depot near Kyiv’s western outskirts, killing at least 37 people and triggering a fire and explosions. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia had launched at least two missiles and 267 drones at Ukraine, of which 233 drones were “shot down or suppressed”. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the site struck was a “Defense Forces storage facility” containing “ammunition that definitely shouldn’t have been there”, and stated that “ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas”.
