Norwegian Royal House says King Harald V’s condition has deteriorated while in hospital
The Norwegian Royal House said today that King Harald V, who has been in hospital since 17 August, has seen his condition deteriorate, describing it as “very serious (svært alvorlig)”. The King had earlier developed fluid retention while receiving cortisone treatment for haemolytic anaemia. The Royal House also said that Harald V’s wife, Queen Sonja, and Crown Prince Haakon, who is serving as regent, have cancelled all royal engagements. According to media reports, the two have gone to Oslo University Hospital, where the King is being treated.
