Heavy rain in Toyama Prefecture and Ishikawa Prefecture

Heavy rain began in Toyama Prefecture and Ishikawa Prefecture in the early hours of 27 August, flooding roads and homes in multiple locations and causing landslides. At 6:20 a.m. on 27 August, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued its highest-level weather warning, the Level 5 Emergency Warning for Heavy Rain, for five locations including Hakui in Ishikawa Prefecture and Himi in Toyama Prefecture. According to Japan's Weathernews, as of 1:00 p.m., the 24-hour rainfall had reached 354.0mm in Himi, Toyama Prefecture, and 337.5mm in Hakui, Ishikawa Prefecture. The previous highest recorded 24-hour rainfall in Himi was reportedly 224.5mm.
