USA Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announce seizure of domains associated with ‘hacking platforms’ QScan and QTRouter

The USA Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced the court-authorised seizure of domains associated with the ‘hacking platforms’ QScan and QTRouter. In unsealed documents from the USA District Court for the Southern District of California, an affidavit by the USA Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated that QScan and QTRouter were operated by QTFY, that QTFY was employed by Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company, and that it provided ‘hacking services’ to paying customers. The FBI affidavit stated that China’s Ministry of State Security had made payments to Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company. It also stated that QTFY members included former personnel from the People’s Liberation Army of China and that QTFY used its connections with the People’s Liberation Army to obtain contract work related to ‘cyberattacks’. The USA Department of Justice said that targets of QTFY’s cyberattacks included the USA Senate, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Federal Reserve (Fed), Department of Justice, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, and National Institutes of Health.
