According to media reports, watermelon harvests in central Lithuania have been decline due to the effect by temperature fluctuations and heavy summer rain this year

According to Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT), some farmers in central Lithuania began experimenting with growing watermelons in recent years, and watermelons were once regarded as a potential new crop for cultivation in Lithuania. This year's harvest, however, has been affected by temperature fluctuations and heavy summer rain, with only small yields expected in some cases and some farmers even considering giving up watermelon cultivation. According to the report, a farmer in the Panevėžys area said that a harvest of around four to five tonnes of watermelons had originally been expected, but this year's yield may be less than one tonne. The farmer said that fluctuations in temperature have had a major impact on the crops.
