二戰終戰八十一週年之際，自民黨幹事長鈴木俊一、總務會長有村治子、選擧對策委員長西村康稔一同參拜靖國神社，自民黨幹事長代行萩生田光一則於上午另行參拜。其後，日本防衛相小泉進次郎、兒童政策擔當大臣黃川田仁志、經濟安全保障擔當大臣小野田紀美、日本成長戰略擔當大臣城內實四名內閣成員，今日亦分別前往靖國神社參拜。首相高市早苗並未前往靖國神社參拜，而透過前述自民黨幹事長鈴木俊一，以自民黨總裁之名義，自費供奉「玉串料」。韓國外交部對日本領導階層人士之參拜表示「深感遺憾與痛心」，中國外交部對小泉進次郎等日本政治人物之參拜及高市早苗之玉串奉納表示「強烈譴責」。
On the 81st anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Liberal Democratic Party Secretary-General Suzuki Shunichi, General Council Chair Arimura Haruko and Election Strategy Committee Chair Nishimura Yasutoshi visited Yasukuni Shrine together, while Acting Secretary-General Hagiuda Koichi made a separate visit in the morning. Subsequently, four members of the Japanese Cabinet also separately visited Yasukuni Shrine during the day: Defence Minister Koizumi Shinjiro, Minister in charge of Children's Policy Kikawada Hitoshi, Minister in charge of Economic Security Onoda Kimi, and Minister in charge of Japan's Growth Strategy Kiuchi Minoru. Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae did not visit Yasukuni Shrine, but instead made a tamagushi-ryo offering at her own expense in her capacity as LDP president, through the aforementioned LDP Secretary-General Suzuki Shunichi. South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed 'deep regret and pain' over visits to the shrine by members of Japan's leadership, while China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs 'strongly condemned' the visits by Koizumi Shinjiro and other Japanese politicians and Takaichi Sanae's tamagushi offering.
